Now we can offer the
transceiver types "650nm duplex",
"650nm simplex", "470nm duplex" and "470nm simplex" as known from our
media converter products in a POF SFP transceiver version (see photo on
the left). The simplex transceiver types use a screwable fiber
connector, the duplex types come with a clamp connector that is in use
in industrial POF communication since many years.
The Optospider™ POF SFP transceiver technical data
correspond with the technical data of our well known simplex and duplex
systems for 650nm and 470nm:
The Optospider™ POF SFP transceiver are compatible with the Optospider™ media converters CS-110 and DMMC.
For further details please see
datasheet POF SFP transceiver.
As many new designed network modules like switches, but also customer
premises equipment (CPE), comprise interfaces for SFP transceivers, POF
SFP transceivers offer the option to use network modules in POF
networks that have primarily been made for glass fiber
applications . On the left side you see some examples.
-
The small, not managable switch Wamin CS-Fx2
comprises 2 SFP ports that can be used for POF
SFP transceivers. In addition it has 6 conventional electrical ports.
With this equipment it is well suitable for small POF home networks as
well as for POF daisy chain networks.
-
The ZyXEL ES-315F is a manageable 5 port switch with SFP port designed
for wall assembly. It is well suitable for installations in public
areas. e.g. in a staircase. After installation there is no access to
the transceiver for not authorized persons.
-
The manageable 10 port switch WizLAN WM-825comprises
8 SFP ports and is suitable for medium size networks, e.g. as a central
unit for data access in a multi dwelling house with several appartments.
-
The manageable 24 port switch ZyXEL ES-3124F
is designed to be the central unit of a major data network. Due to its
very attractive price performance relation its application in smaller
networks with a reduced number of POF SFP transceivers may be
considered.
-
The Lyconsys FiberGecko 100 is
a media converter with SFP port, that realizes data communication and
power supply via an USB-2.0 interface. The very small module needs no
separate power supply unit and has sufficient space close to every
notebook computer.
Especially professional network switches (like e.g.
switches from Cisco or HP) utilize special data codings in the SFP
EEPROM memory that are checked during the plug in process. If the data
coding doesn't coincide with the manufacturer's original transceiver
data coding, the switch doesn't accept the SFP ransceiver. In
cooperation with partner companies that specialized on EEPROM memories
for SFP switches, we can offer Optospider™ POF SFP transceivers
that are compatible with nearly all great manufacturer's switches.
Further applications for POF SFP transceivers you will find in the paper "
POF SFP transceivers, the missing link in POF inhouse data networks".
